Carroll County Animal Control has received numerous calls and reports from members of the community regarding a horse loose in the Liberty Reservoir area.

An Animal Control Officer responded to the reports and made contact with the horse’s owner. The owner was referred to a professional trapper with specialized experience working with wild horses and has hired the trapper to assist with locating and capturing the horse.

Carroll County Animal Control is working in collaboration with the Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and the Carroll County Department of Public Works to facilitate access to areas where the horse has been reported.

The trapper is actively working to locate the horse, including the use of a drone. Any leads or sightings received by Animal Control are promptly forwarded to the trapper.

The majority of reported sightings have occurred at night, which has made locating and trapping the horse more challenging.

Anyone in the area is asked to use caution, as the horse may be near roadways.
