The Power of Our PetSmart Partnership

At the Humane Society of Carroll County, our partnership with PetSmart and PetSmart Charities plays a vital role in helping animals find forever homes.

Each year, HSCC places over 2,500 cats in loving homes through PetSmart’s high‑traffic adoption centers. Because thousands of potential adopters visit PetSmart locations daily, the average length of stay for adoptable animals in store is just 5 days — helping pets transition faster from foster care to family life.

PetSmart Charities supports animal welfare nationwide by partnering with more than 2,500 local shelters and rescues and facilitating adoption programs in over 1,600 stores. Across North America, this effort has helped more than 11 million pets find loving homes since 1994, with adoptions happening roughly every 38 seconds in PetSmart stores. PetSmart Charities+1

This partnership also brings grant funding and resources that directly benefit HSCC’s mission. Through PetSmart Charities grants, local shelters receive financial support to cover medical care, enrichment, vaccinations, transport, and other adoption‑ready needs — helping more animals become healthy and socialized before they meet their new families. In addition to saving lives through adoptions, this collaboration helps sustain critical shelter operations and expand community engagement. By connecting pets with adopters in a friendly, accessible retail environment, we get more animals into homes while also raising awareness about responsible pet care and the lifesaving work of local animal welfare organizations.

Our PetSmart partnership strengthens every part of the adoption journey — from care and enrichment to fast placements and long‑term community support.
