July 10 – Cats & Small Critters Day
Campers will spend the day learning all about cats and small companion animals like rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, rats, and more! From feline body language and enrichment to proper care for pocket pets, participants will discover what makes these animals unique. Campers may help create toys and enrichment items, meet adoptable animals, and learn how shelters care for cats and small critters while they wait for homes.

July 17 – Dogs & Farm Animals Day
Get ready for a tail-wagging day of fun! Campers will learn about dog behavior, training, enrichment, and responsible pet ownership while also exploring the world of farm animals. From goats and sheep to chickens and more, participants will discover how different animals are cared for and the important roles they play. Hands-on activities, animal interactions, and games will make this an exciting day for animal lovers of all kinds.

July 24 – Wildlife & Reptile Day
Wild things await! Campers will explore the fascinating world of native wildlife and reptiles while learning about conservation, rehabilitation, and respecting animals in their natural habitats. Participants will discover the differences between wild and domestic animals, meet some scaly reptile ambassadors, and learn how shelters and wildlife organizations help animals in need. Perfect for curious campers who love nature and adventure!

July 31 – Future Animal Heroes Day
Calling all future veterinarians, animal control officers, shelter workers, trainers, rescuers, and advocates! This special day gives campers a behind-the-scenes look at careers that help animals every day. Participants will learn about animal safety, rescue work, shelter operations, veterinary care, and ways they can become advocates for animals in their own communities. Campers will also explore the world of shelter marketing and adoption events by learning how to promote adoptable animals, create eye-catching event ideas, and help plan successful adoption events that connect pets with loving families. Through fun activities and interactive learning, campers will discover how they can make a difference for animals now and in the future.

Critter Camp Parent and Camper Code of Conduct

The Humane Society of Carroll County Critter Camp has rules that we follow to make sure everyone has a safe and fun experience at camp. This code is our guide for behavior at Critter Camp. It is to be read and signed by both the parent/guardian and camper.

I understand that rules are made to protect me and others, to help make sure program activities are safe, fun, and successful, and to create a welcoming camp community. I will treat other people, myself, animals, property, and equipment with respect. Campers will:

Be Prepared

Parents will:

Make sure medication is turned in to the Camp Director
Arrive promptly for drop-off and pick-up

The camp staff will strive to create a successful and positive camp experience for every camper.

The Humane Society of Carroll County reserves the right to send any camper home who exhibits unsafe and/or unacceptable behavior that endangers other campers, staff, animals, or property.
Should this occur, parents/guardians are responsible for picking up their child in a reasonable timeframe as deemed necessary by the Camp Director. Persons listed as emergency contacts may be notified if parents/guardians cannot be reached.
No refund will be given if a camper is sent home due to unacceptable behavior.

Campers are not permitted to use cell phones or personal electronic devices during camp activities. Phones should remain put away during the camp day to help campers stay engaged, participate fully, and ensure the safety and privacy of all campers, staff, and animals. If a camper needs to contact a parent or guardian, staff will assist them.

Both the camper and parent/guardian have read, understand, and agree to comply with the Code of Conduct Agreement while at Critter Camp.

As the parent/legal guardian, I understand that I am surrendering certain legal rights by signing this agreement. I understand that said child will be participating in activities at the Humane Society of Carroll County and this includes certain risks including but not limited to direct contact with domestic animals. I understand that direct contact with domestic animals will be minimal. I further understand that the behavior of domestic animals is unpredictable and that some domestic animals are capable of inflicting serious personal injury, as well as extensive property damage. Knowing the risk of handling domestic animals, on behalf of the minor and myself, I agree to assume those risks and to release, indemnify, and hold harmless the Humane Society of Carroll County and/or any of its Officers, Directors, Employees, Agents, Volunteers, or Contractors for any and all personal injury and property damages resulting from said child’s participation in activities. I also understand that said child is to remain on the Humane Society of Carroll County property for the duration of activities. If my child leaves the property during participation, with or without permission from a staff member, I release, indemnify, and hold harmless the Humane Society of Carroll County for any and all personal injury and property damages resulting from said child leaving the Humane Society of Carroll County property. I give the Humane Society of Carroll County authority to seek emergency medical treatment for said child. I know of no medical or other condition that would prevent said child from participation in activities at the Humane Society of Carroll County.
