PetSmart generously donates space in their stores to help adoptable pets find homes. The Humane Society of Carroll County (HSCC) partners with PetSmart and rescue organizations to provide adoption opportunities for more than 3,000 pets each year throughout the greater Baltimore region, including southern Pennsylvania! By collaborating with these shelter partners, HSCC is able to utilize the space needed to find homes for pets in Carroll County.

PetSmart Adoption Event Volunteers Needed
PetSmart generously donates space in their stores to help adoptable pets find homes. The Humane Society of Carroll County (HSCC) partners with PetSmart to provide adoption opportunities for more than 3,000 pets each year throughout the greater Baltimore region, including southern Pennsylvania! By collaborating with these shelter partners, HSCC is able to utilize the space needed to find homes for pets from Carroll County and our transport partners throughout the region. This success relies on volunteers who support daily care, adoption events, and transports at PetSmart locations.
Volunteers are needed throughout the bi-state region to facilitate this lifesaving initiative! You can assist homeless pets in need in your own neighborhood!
PetSmart Cat Care Volunteers Needed
We are looking for volunteers to help care for cats that are at area PetSmart stores. You can sign up to help at the store(s) closest to you!
Once approved, volunteers report directly to the store, clean cages, and provide general care and social interaction. Full training and instructions will be provided!
We welcome all volunteers! However, to volunteer at our offsite locations, volunteers must be 13 years or older. Any volunteers under the age of 16 must have a parent/guardian present. Volunteers with a job coach must have their job coach present. This opportunity is eligible for student service-learning hours (SSL).
Once you are established as a Cat Care Volunteer, if interested, you are also welcome to expand your involvement by speaking with interested adopters and assist with the adoption process if needed. Additional training is required. Once you begin volunteering and have completed several shifts, please let our PetSmart program coordinator know you are interested!

PetSmart Animal Response Volunteer
The Humane Society of Carroll County is looking for volunteers who are willing to be on-call to drive to our partner stores when requested to care for or transport outside of our normal transportation windows. Valid driver’s license and mode of transportation required. If this is an opportunity that interests you, please e-mail the HSCC Volunteer coordinator at hsccvolunteer@gmail.com.
PetSmart Adoption Event Volunteers Needed
We are looking for volunteers to take our adoptable dogs to PetSmart every Thursday to help them find loving homes. Volunteers pick up a dog from the shelter, walk them around the store, speak with interested adopters, and assist with the adoption process if needed — full training and instructions will be provided!
All ages are welcome to participate; however, a volunteer age 21 or older must be holding the leash at all times.
