Doggy Day Out

Doggy Day Out is a unique volunteer opportunity that allows you to play a direct role in advancing the Humane Society of Carroll County’s lifesaving mission. Sponsored by Koons Westminster Toyota, the program gives dogs a safe, comfortable break from the shelter for a few hours or even overnight. Volunteers provide socialization, attention, and enrichment while helping dogs shine in a new environment.

Dogs in the program have been carefully selected to participate. If a dog you are interested in has not been identified as a Doggy Day Out candidate, it is not a reflection on the dog. It may simply mean we have not gotten to know them yet, or that they are likely to be adopted quickly. Participating in Doggy Day Out is not required for adoption; anyone interested can request a meet and greet on a walk-in basis.

During outings, dogs wear a vest or leash indicating they are available for adoption, and the backpack provided with supplies promotes them as adoptable. Volunteers are encouraged to capture photos or stories from their time out and share them with friends or on social media. Koons Westminster Toyota is proud to support this program, helping volunteers and dogs make meaningful connections that lead to more adoptions.

After returning, volunteers complete a short questionnaire and share any photos. Your observations can be invaluable in helping potential adopters learn more about the dog’s personality and needs. To volunteer, fill out the request form. Availability will be confirmed the Friday before your requested date. Please allow at least two business days for processing.
